When asked, “Why did you decide to become an optometrist?” Dr. James Allison typically responds, “Because it fits my two biggest strengths: good personal skills matched up with a good solid understanding of the sciences.”
Dr. Allison received his undergraduate degree from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration and worked in the federal computer contracting field in Washington, DC before going back to school to pursue optometry.
Dr. Allison graduated from the New England College of Optometry as an honors student in 2001 and then went on to complete a hospital-based residency in primary care optometry in Crownpoint, New Mexico. Over the past ten years since completing the residency he has worked in both Hospital and private practice locations.
